GENTLE KNIFE is a Norwegian Progressive-Rock band originating from Oslo, and they have an incredible line-up of 10 members! With both male and female vocals, guitars, synths, Mellotron, woodwinds and everything else you would or would not expect to hear on a Prog album, the band combines the mood of the 1970’s with a modern take on the genre!

GENTLE KNIFE’s eponymous conceptual debut album recounts the tale of an adventurer's unfortunate demise in an alluring forest, and it takes the form of an 8-part suite rooted in the classic rock concept album.
This innovative release transcends the genre with originality and modern sentiment, and the results are lyrical and foreboding, symphonic and urban.
You will hear influences of early KING CRIMSON, ROXY MUSIC in the music and KATE BUSH in the female half of the vocal department. The moods vary from powerful and gloomy to shimmering and celestial melancholia and there’s plenty in the way of Mellotron carpeted guitar solos and fine symphonic Prog ballads to savour.

‘Gentle Knife’ was recorded/premixed by Øyvind Engebretsen at Sound Lab Studios with a final mix by Neil Kernon and then mastered by Morten Lund at Lunds Lyd.
